Lots of ginger by the stream
Torch Ginger too
Century plant.
It takes a long time for this plant to blossom, hence the name, but its usually 20-30 years.
Umbrella tree in back.
Tapioca AKA Cassava AKA Yuca root
Cassava
Sugarcane
Strawberry Guava
Guava
Schefflera
Scheffleras can be kept small, as a bonsai, or can grow huge with sprawling root systems. They are also called Umbrella trees.
There is a huge Mango tree, but, unfortunatly, does not bare fruit : (
Kukui Nut / Candlenut
Loquat tree
Loquat
There were a couple lemon trees here already too.
Coffee Trees
Coffee and Ghecko
Mom and I roasted coffee beans while they were visiting in February, 2013! I had picked some red coffee beans a couple months earlier and prepped them, by removing the outer fruit, soaking them for a couple days, then drying them. I had found something called a nut roaster at savers before, which worked perfectly for roasting coffee! It turned out great!
It really is a long process, from start to finish. If you drink coffee you should be really appreciative of all that went into that cup!
Lilikoi or AKA Passion Fruit vines
Giant Fern trees
There were a couple banana trees here already, and they replicate very easily, so I transferred several around the property, and they took hold.
There were 5 Rainbow Eucalyptus trees here
There is a "beautiful" bamboo forest creeping onto the property. Bamboo is very pretty, but this is the spreading type and very invasive, and very hard to stop. I laid down weed block in areas to slow it, and still have to cut it back twice a year.
Eucalyptus robusta AKA swamp mahogany, these grow very tall and have incredible bark.
Tulip Trees
At first I was excited to see Tulip trees, because they are pretty, but they are actually invasive, and popping up everywhere now!
There are raspberries here, but they are not very good at all, basically tasteless, with only a couple berries per very prickley stalk!
There's also a lot Night blooming Jasmin. Smells great, but grows huge, hard to keep under control.
